Description of Incident

Engineering work is taking place between Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport, closing all lines.

Avanti West Coast:

Trains between Manchester Piccadilly and London Euston will now operate between Stockport and London Euston only.

Rail replacement buses will operate between Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport.

On train per hour will operate via:

  • Wilmslow and Crewe
  • Macclesfield and Stoke-on-Trent

CrossCountry:

Rail replacement buses will operate between Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport.

East Midlands Railway:

It is not yet confirmed how East Midlands Railway will be affected by these works.

Northern:

Saturday 14 to Sunday 22 February:

The following services to / from Manchester Piccadilly will be running an amended timetable

  • Manchester Piccadilly and Sheffield – amended timetable between Guide Bridge and Sheffield
  • Manchester Piccadilly and Romiley / Rose Hill Marple via Bredbury – no trains will run. Replacement buses will be provided between Manchester Victoria and Guide Bridge, and between Manchester Victoria and Romiley / Rose Hill Marple
  • Manchester Airport and Barrow-in-Furness / Windermere – trains will run between Manchester Oxford Road and Barrow-in-Furness / Windermere. Passengers wanting to travel to Manchester Airport, express buses will be provided to / from Bolton
  • Manchester Airport and Blackpool North – will amended to run between Manchester Piccadilly and Blackpool North with an amended timetable
  • Manchester Piccadilly and Buxton – amended timetable between Stockport and Buxton, rail replacement buses will be provided between Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport
  • Manchester Piccadilly and Liverpool Lime Street via Earlestown – will run to an amended timetable
  • Manchester Piccadilly and Crewe via Manchester Airport – trains will run between Stockport and Manchester Airport / Crewe. Rail replacement buses are provided between Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport and between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport
  • Manchester Piccadilly and Alderley Edge – no trains will run
  • Manchester Piccadilly and Stoke-on-Trent – trains will start / terminate at Stockport, except on Sunday where the train will not run. Rail replacement buses are provided between Stockport and Stoke-on-Trent on Saturdays and Monday to Friday, and also Manchester Piccadilly and Stoke-on-Trent on Sunday

Saturday 14 February, Monday 16 to Friday 20 February:

  • Manchester Piccadilly and Chester – amended timetable between Altrincham and Chester, customers are able to use local trams and buses between Manchester Piccadilly and Altrincham at no extra cost
  • Manchester Piccadilly and Hadfield / Glossop – amended timetable to / from Hadfield / Glossop and Guide Bridge. Rail replacement buses will be provided between Manchester Victoria and Guide Bridge, customers are to use an alternative route to get to Manchester Victoria

Sunday 15 February:

  • Manchester Piccadilly and Chester – no trains will run. Rail replacement buses will be provided between Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport and between Stockport and Chester
  • Manchester Piccadilly and Hadfield / Glossop – no trains will run. Rail replacement buses will be provided between Manchester Victoria and Hadfield, calling at all stations except Hattersley and Broadbottom. A mini-bus shuttle service will be provided between Godley and Hadfield to serve Hattersley and Broadbottom. Customers are to use an alternative route to get to Manchester Victoria

TransPennine Express:

TransPennine Express will run to the following amended timetable:

Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 February:

  • Manchester Victoria to Liverpool Lime Street
  • York to Redcar Central
  • Manchester Victoria to York via Castleford
  • Preston to Glasgow/Edinburgh
  • Stockport to Cleethorpes
  • Liverpool Lime Street to Manchester Oxford Road via Warrington Central

Monday 16 to Friday 20 February:

  • Manchester Victoria to Redcar Central
  • Manchester Victoria to York via Castleford
  • Preston to Glasgow/Edinburgh
  • Stockport to Cleethorpes
  • Liverpool Lime Street to Manchester Oxford Road via Warrington Central

Rail replacement buses are to be confirmed.

Transport for Wales:

Saturday 14 and Monday 16 to Friday 20 February:

Transport for Wales services between Manchester Piccadilly and Shrewsbury / Cardiff Central / Swansea / Carmarthen / Milford Haven / Fishguard Harbour via Crewe will now run between Crewe and Shrewsbury / Cardiff Central / Swansea / Carmarthen / Milford Haven / Fishguard Harbour.

Transport for Wales services between Manchester Airport and Chester / Llandudno / Holyhead will run between Manchester Oxford Road and and Chester / Llandudno / Holyhead.

You are advised you can use your ticket on alternative services to travel to / from Stockport and Manchester Oxford Road.

Sunday 15 February:

Transport for Wales services between Manchester Piccadilly and Shrewsbury / Cardiff Central / Swansea / Carmarthen / Milford Haven / Fishguard Harbour via Crewe will now run between Crewe and Shrewsbury / Cardiff Central / Swansea / Carmarthen / Milford Haven / Fishguard Harbour.

Transport for Wales services between Manchester Airport and Chester / Llandudno / Holyhead will run between Manchester Piccadilly and and Chester / Llandudno / Holyhead.

You are advised you can use your ticket on alternative services to travel to / from Stockport and Manchester Piccadilly.
