Latest flood alert advice from the Environment Agency: Rising river levels this morning may lead to flooding.  Flooding is possible from the morning of 16 February 2026 . River levels are rising following the recent rainfall.  Areas most at risk are low lying land and riverside areas around Great Yeldham, Castle Hedingham, Sible Hedingham, Halstead, White Colne, Chappel, Fordstreet, and the Toppesfield Brook, and in Colchester between the A12 and East Street.  We are monitoring rainfall and river levels .  Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water .  This message will be updated by 5:00PM on 16 February 2026 or as the situation changes.
