River Nene

Current Flood Alert: Flood warning 2

Latest flood alert advice from the Environment Agency: Rising river levels expected to cause flooding on 16th February 2026. Further light rainfall is forecast for today and river levels remain high. During periods of high tide the River Nene will be unable to discharge into the sea, resulting in tide lock conditions. This is likely to lead to localised flooding of the North Bank Road, between Peterborough and Rings End. Whilst this Flood Warning is in force, the Local Authority will close North Bank Road. Diversionary routes will be put in place and further updates will be available through local media. We are closely monitoring the situation. Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. This message will be updated by 17:00 on 17th February 2026 or as the situation changes.
