Current Flood Alert: Flood alert 3

Latest flood alert advice from the Environment Agency: High groundwater levels may lead to flooding.  Flooding is possible as a lot of rain (49mm) has fallen in the last week.  Flooding is expected to begin affecting a small number of cellars in Upton before the weekend. Septic tanks will also struggle to operate properly as they become overwhelmed with groundwater. Further rain (between 20 and 50mm) is forecast from today (Wednesday 11/02/2026) to Sunday 15/02/2026. Groundwater levels in the valley are expected to continue rising for much of February. Impacts to property at Vernham Dean, Hurstbourne Tarrant, Stoke or St Mary Bourne could occur during late-February if heavy rain continues to affect the Bourne Valley.  We are closely monitoring the situation .  Residents are advised to prepare property resilience measures and ensure that pumps are working where they have been installed . All residents in the Bourne Valley should remain prepared.  This message will be updated by 6:00PM on 18 February 2026 or as the situation changes.
