Current Flood Alert: Flood alert 3
Latest flood alert advice from the Environment Agency: Groundwater is high, very close to the surface, but now slowly falling at the Compton borehole. Widespread rain is forecast Sunday morning. There is uncertainty in rainfall amounts. Between 10mm and 20mm. If the smaller amount of rain occurs, groundwater levels could continue to fall. If the maximum rain occurs, groundwater levels will likely rise again. Either way, groundwater flood impacts will continue all week. Probably until March. Springs will appear, water will be in fields, and water will flow down roads, including Stoughton main road, the road from East Marden, between Cooks Lane and Barley Mow in Walderton, and the B2146 near Woodlands Lane. Groundwater will also affect a small number of cellars in Stoughton and Walderton. More rain is forecast Tuesday evening. If as much rain occurs as predicted, groundwater could rise until 23/02/2026. Perhaps longer. The weather outlook remains unsettled into March, although perhaps with rain less often. Take care on roads that flood (Stoughton, Walderton). Ensure pumps work. We will update this message by 18:00 18/02/2026.
