Description of Incident

Urgent repairs to the track are taking place this evening between Redhill and Horley. Trains travelling between Redhill and Gatwick Airport will not be able to call at Earlswood Surrey and Salfords from 22:45.

Disruption is expected from 22:45 until the end of service.

Customer advice:

Some lines will need to be closed due to urgent repairs to the track. Trains will have to use alternative lines which bypass these two stations.

During the affected times, your ticket can be used no extra cost on local Metrobus services.

Using Metrobus will take longer, but their buses serve the Earlswood and Salfords areas on Routes 100, 430, 435 and 460 at the affected time of the evening. These buses connect with trains at Redhill, and some buses also connect with trains at Gatwick Airport.

If you are unable to use a bus service, and you are travelling from Earlswood or Salfords, please use the station Help Point for further support with your journey. If you are travelling towards Earlswood or Salfords, please leave the train at Redhill, Horley or Gatwick Airport, and speak to staff.

We recommend you leave at least 30 minutes of extra time for journeys which are affected by this.

You can see the live departure boards, and view a live map of the network.

You can also view an alternative route guide.

You can use the Southern and Thameslink app to find up-to-date information.

Can you tell me more about the incident?

Over the course of the last week, a speed restriction has been in place on the lines used by stopping services in the Earlswood area due to a possible issue with the track. Network Rail engineers need to attend as soon as possible to inspect and repair the fault, and this cannot be done whilst trains are using the lines in question. Therefore late-evening services are having to divert around the issue.
