Description of Incident

Following a fault with the signalling system at Leagrave all lines between Bedford and Luton have reopened. As service recovers, trains running between these stations may still be cancelled, delayed by up to 20 minutes or revised.

This is expected until 18:00.

Advice for East Midlands Railway customers:

Connect services (between Corby and London St Pancras International) will now run as normal however there maybe on-going delays for the next hour, while service recovers.

How do I get where I need to be?

You should continue to travel as originally planned, however your journey may be delayed by 15 minutes.

You may use your tickets to travel on Thameslink services between Bedford and London St Pancras International, in both directions, at no extra cost.

Advice for Thameslink customers:

An earlier signalling fault at Leagrave has been causing disruption between Bedford and Luton.

Services can now run normally again, but some services may still be subject to delays, and staff are having to also make service changes to reduce congestion.

  • Services that run between Bedford and Three Bridges (stopping services via Redhill) have been suspended in both directions, and will be gradually reintroduced over the course of the morning
  • Where needed, services that run between Peterborough and Horsham will stop additionally at Purley, Earlswood and Salfords

As you may need to wait longer for a train, or change trains more often to get to your destination, please check our journey planners before you travel. Please allow at least 15-20 minutes of extra time if you are affected.

Can you tell me more about the incident?

Earlier this morning, Network Rail were dealing with a signalling fault near Leagrave station, which has since been rectified.

During this time, trains on each of the four lines needed to be stopped, and the drivers given verbal instructions to continue. This takes extra time, and causes delays. As a result, Thameslink also needed to reduce the number of trains in the area.
