The consequence of closing the M50 and diverting traffic along the A417from Junction 2 is that hauliers have to make a much longer journey. The result of which is that Heavy Goods Vehicles are travelling through the villages of Staunton, Hartpury and Maisemore at excessive speeds as they try to catch up on lost time.Traffic drives at speeds well over the National limit of 60 MPH in 40 MPH zones. Since there is no monitoring of this and no night-time Police presence this is extremely irresponsible on the part of those arranging these diversions. You should, at least , carry out a review of why night closures are so essential and ask if there are alternatives.

I am so angry that absolutely no notice was given for the closure of the M50 westbound this evening , 1st of August. At 20:34 the information was presented, THE SAME TIME AS WHEN THE CLOSURE COMMENCED. Whoever was responsible for this needs to reconsider their competence. This has resulted in me missing a meeting and costing me time and money both in fuel and business.
