  1. As a quick and cheap fix is to plant quick growing llandie trees blocking the view of the stones, then moving the 303 away from the stones in a cutting. A tunnel is unnecessary and too expensive. That money would cover the cost for a duel carriageway passed the stones and around Winterbourne Stoke.

    1. Agreed. I’ve been saying for years, restore the natural forest that used to surround Stonehenge. No rubberneckers, more trees, restored ancient landscape, more oxygen less CO2. Job done for a fraction of the cost and disruption.

  2. We do need a Tunnel because a duel carriage way will not stop the rubber neckers, the only way to do that is to take the road under ground plue it will be hidden then without being a blot on the landscape

    1. A tunnel is total overkill. The southern route out across the fields could and should have been finished years ago.

    2. Compared with traffic jams in London every day the 303 by Stonehenge for a few hours a week is hardly worth a mention, there are other routes we can all use anyway!

    3. Another option would be to make it dual past the stones to the south side and all the removed top and other soils banked on the north side to hide the stones from the road..

    1. Hi Alice, It is normal for traffic to be at a standstill just before and after Stonehenge. Hopefully you wont be there much longer. Good luck.
