Description of Incident

There are yellow and amber weather warnings associated with Storm Claudia in place today, Friday 14 November, across parts of England.

The poor weather is expected to cause disruption to services on the Liverpool Lime Street – Norwich route today.

How does this affect my train?

The last train from Sheffield towards Liverpool Lime Street is the 06:51 Norwich to Liverpool Lime Street service, arriving into Liverpool at 12:29.

The last train from Liverpool Lime Street to Sheffield will be the 12:51 Liverpool Lime Street to Nottingham service arriving into Nottingham at 15:29.

After 13:00, no East Midlands Railway trains will run between Liverpool Lime Street and Sheffield. Instead, most services will run between Sheffield and Norwich only.

Please note that the last two services between Sheffield and Nottingham today will be cancelled:

  • 21:41 Manchester Piccadilly to Nottingham
  • 21:37 Liverpool Lime Street to Nottingham

How do I get where I need to be?

You are strongly encouraged to check your journey before travel and travel earlier where possible. If you are unable to / decide not to travel today, you are permitted to use your ticket to travel tomorrow at no extra cost with the same ticket.

Additionally, you may use your ticket on Northern and TransPennine Express services between Sheffield and Manchester Piccadilly / Liverpool Lime Street at no extra cost.

Some of the usual ticket restrictions have been relaxed. If you hold an ‘Advance Ticket’ which is usually valid on a specific train, you may use it to travel on any East Midlands Railway train on this route.

If you have an ‘Off Peak’ or ‘Super Off Peak’ ticket, you may use it on board peak time East Midlands Railway trains on this route today.

All of the available alternative route options are available in the opposite direction too.

If you need to start your outward journey from a different operator’s station due to this disruption, then you will also be able to travel back to that station when you return, regardless of if the disruption has ended or your ticket type. Rail industry colleagues will welcome you on board with your original ticket.
