Description of Incident

Engineering work is taking place between Salford Central and Walkden / Bolton, closing some lines.

Northern:

As a result of this, the following services will be amended:

Trains between:

Manchester Oxford Road / Manchester Airport – Blackpool North: Trains will be diverted to run via an alternative route, and will not call stations via Chorley and Bolton. An hourly train service will be provided between Bolton and Preston / Blackpool North.

Leeds – Wigan Wallgate: Trains will be diverted via an alternative route between Manchester Victoria and Wigan Wallgate, and will be extended to start / terminate at Southport.

Clitheroe and Manchester Victoria: Trains will start / terminate at Bolton.

Stalybridge – Wigan / Southport / Headbolt Lane: Shuttle train services will be provided between:

  • Stalybridge and Manchester Victoria
  • Wigan Wallgate and Headbolt Lane
  • Bolton and Southport

Rail replacement buses will run on the following routes:

  • Manchester Piccadilly and Bolton
  • Manchester Victoria and Bolton calling at all intermediate stations
  • Manchester and Wigan Wallgate via Atherton

TransPennine Express:

Trains services between Manchester stations and Scotland will be diverted and will not call at Bolton.

If you are travelling to / from Bolton, you should use other Train Operators services.
