Description of Incident

Engineering work is taking place between Westbury and Castle Cary, closing all lines.

Great Western Railway:

Replacement buses will run between:

  • Westbury and Frome
  • Westbury and Castle Cary
  • Swindon and Pewsey
  • Castle Cary and Taunton

Long Distance services:

Long distance trains between London and South West England that run via Westbury will be diverted to run via Bristol Temple Meads. As a result, these trains will not call at Newbury, Hungerford, Pewsey, Westbury or Castle Cary. Some of these trains will additionally call at Swindon.

For Newbury and Hungerford, you should travel via Reading and local train services.

For Pewsey, you should travel via Swindon. (Road transport between Swindon and Pewsey taking 45 minutes).

For Westbury, you should travel via Swindon or Bath Spa.

For Castle Cary you should travel via Bath Spa, Westbury and road transport between Westbury and Castle Cary. There will also be road transport between Castle Cary and Taunton taking 60-65 minutes.

Local services:

Trains between Bristol Temple Meads / Swindon and Weymouth will operate between Bristol Temple Meads / Swindon and Westbury, and between Castle Cary and Weymouth. Trains between Swindon and Frome will run between Swindon and Westbury only.

South Western Railway:

The 09:46 Yeovil Junction to Salisbury service will not run. A replacement bus will run from Yeovil Junction to Westbury.
